Win 7 Services required for general operation

Recently a "MICROSOFT TECHNICIAN" gained access to my Dads computer and disabled almost all the services. I'm attempting to reset the services and recover his PC without reloading windows.



My question is, is there a list of minimum required services to get back online? Or do I need to reset all of these one by one?


Just looking for an easier way. Maybe help someone else down the road..

When you say a "MICROSOFT TECHNICIAN", are you talking about one of those phone scams used by bad guys to get access to your computer? And your dad actually gave such access?

If a hacker got unrestricted access to your computer, you have MUCH greater problems than a few services missing. They guy could have done literaly anything to your computer, and most likely he wanted to drop some malware on it or use for some of his own purposes, and since he got unrestricted access, he owns the computer now. Don't worry about services or any other apparent effect, assume your computer is not yours aany longer.

The only sane option after such an attack is a clean install.

I definitely agree with Alejandro, a clean install is the only sure fix.

The things they really want are your personal details, bank & credit card details, email addresses from your contacts etc.. You now need to keep a check on your bank account to see that there have been no unauthorised withdrawals. You should change all your passwords as well.

I totally agree with Alejandro85 and Ranger4.

Just to be on the safe side, and for your own piece of mind, the only logical and sensible option is to do a clean install.
