Win 7 Super Lag/Hang

Running Win 7 x64, when I full screen a streaming video from say www.free-tv-video-online.info within 5 minutes the screen hangs then goes black and goes into a super lag, still can mange to get to task manager after like 30s, but there's no cpu or memory increase. If I can close firefox the computer is still running very slowly, like a lag but no memory or cpu increase. Also I tried different browsers and also noticed when I full screened a picture to zoom in on a web site when I exited out of zoom the mouse pointer was like 3 or 4 times bigger, very strange. No way to make the mouse pointer back to normal size. Using Lastest 9.8 Drivers for Vista/Win 7 64-Bit. Can run Crysis, Gta 4 or any other game maxed out for hours without any issues. Cpu idle temp about 40C and GPU about 54C.

AMD Phenom II x4 940 @ 3.51Ghz
Gigabyte MA-790FX-UD5P
G.Skill DDR2 1066 @ 800Mhz 4-4-4-12 timings
Sapphire 4890 OC @ 940/1025
Creative Sound Blaster Extreme Gamer 7.1
Corsair TX-750W
Cooler Master HAF 922

Hmmm are you using the latest version of Flash?

Yah, tried updating flash and shockwave with no success, also tried reinstalling firefox.

Event Viewer is saying that my display driver is crashing. Weird since I can game for hours without any issues yet streaming an online video in full screen hangs my whole system and crashes my display driver. It definitely can't be temps. Could it be the gpu core clock switching from 940Mhz to 240Mhz when the gpu is not doing much?

Try an earlier driver and see if the issue appears...

I thought the 9.8 drivers were the only ones that supported Win 7 RTM.

indeed but you can install the prior drivers even if they are for Windows Vista

Can I install the 9.7 drivers right on top of the 9.8 one's or should I uninstall them first? I will also try setting my overclocks back to default and upping the voltage a bit.

Uninstall 9.8 first...reboot...install 9.7 (to be sure). If anything this will eliminate (for the most part) the drivers from this equation

I disabled hardware acceleration for flash player then tried streaming the video again and I let it play for about 20 minutes, didn't hang this time. Could that have been the problem? I also increased the voltage to my gpu because I have it overclocked. Why would having hardware acceleration enabled for full screen cause my system to hang?

Was this before or after installing the older driver?

This was before installing the new driver, actually never installed the new driver yet.
