Good People,
I was going thru the steps of configuring Win 7 to record minidumps.
In the process, I made sure I could enter the correct location for the minidump.
I deleted the default value and simply retyped the default value (several times in fact to make sure that this problem wasn't due to a typo).
When I do I get a notification from Win7 about having a paging file that is too small.
I give the procedure I followed and
snapshot of Win 7 notification and
snapshot of Explorer's display of Pagefile.sys size.
WIN + PAUSE/BREAK key combo |
Advanced system settings in left-hand pane |
the System Properties dialog will open with the Advanced tab selected |
in the Startup and Recovery section, click on the Settings button |
in the System Failure section, checkmark Write an Event to the system log |
in the System Failure section, checkmark Automatically restart |
Under Write debugging information, select Small memory dump (128K) |
in the Small dump directory: box, enter %SystemRoot%\Minidump |
OK button

That msg isn't stopping me but I do think that for a person who has never been there and done that, that one could be confused. I was bewildered when I saw the msg.
