Win 7 too fast? Something is wrong here...

Are we looking at a motherboard conflict issue or Win7 do you think?

I put my money on a bad BIOS template. I am running Win7 since dec 2008, when the first public beta leaked on BT and I've had all sorts of issues, but no HPET bug. That was until a month and a week ago, when I made the last BIOS update available for my mainboard and after that it started to have this bug occasionally.

I think its Windows problem, because time in bios running normally. But why help shutdown a computer? Im desperate... :-(

PS:HPET disabling in Device Manager not working.

Well, the BIOS doesn't run on HPET... so you wouldn't see any difference, nor would XP since it only runs on the non-high-precision RTC.

It might also be the OS, but since it occurs rarely, MS devs won't bother with it.

ASUS have released a new BIOS for my mainboard and there are 4 more older versions that I haven't tested. If any of them will kill the bug, I'll add a notice to the thread.

Well, I am running WinXP and Win7 on the same MOBO, and I have no problems with XP.

Hi,
I had the same problem and I realized that it started after restart from the last actualization. The actualization was the SP1.
My laptop is an ASUS (I don't know the specifications).

It's very annoying.

Any suggestions?

It's from before SP1, maybe SP1 reset something in your notebook.

For me it's when I completely power off the computer (desktop) from the main power line. Last night I turned off my surge protector and this morning when I turn it on it did it again. If it remains in powered when turned off it is fine, no nags.

I never found a solution to the problem - I run XP, Vista and Win 7 and the only one that has a problem is Win 7. It must be the mobo or something cuz I can't figure it out. Reboot and reboot again is the only way to fix it.

It's a configuration glitch..
Shut off computer and load the start up advanced options menu.
On my system I hold F10 and then when prompted I hold F8
From there you can choose " Load Last Known Good Configuration"
It should load up normally.
