Win 7 Ultimate x64 BSOD

Hi,

I've been fighting this BSOD error for the better part of 3hours, and am failing considerably. I don't have my Win7 install disk, so when it reboots and offers me the option to Repair, it fails without the Win7 disk.

I can't pinpoint exactly what I was doing prior to the BSOD, but I was trying to run a boot trace to determine why the PC was booting so slowly. Unfortunately, the boot trace never completely and left me in a completely unstable environment. Basically, as soon as the Win7 login screen appears, it throws the BSOD. (not even a chance to log in). Now, the only way I can get access to the machine is in Safe Mode.

I went into the registry and removed the xbootmgr command, to disable the boot trace, but that made no difference. I have since tried removing the nvidia drivers and updating my iastor drivers, but I still keep getting a BSOD on boot up. My limited understanding of the dmp files seems to indicate that it is ntoskrnl.exe that is problematic, but can't figure out what to do to fix it!

System about 3yrs old

I tried to run perfom /report in safe mode, but get an error msg "The system cannot find the path specified.". I am uploading the Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2 file.

Any help, suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I thought perhaps a Windows Update would help, but can't run it in safe mode.

Most of these were caused by usbscan.sys (which appears to be a USB scanner/printer driver). I would remove the driver in safe mode, ensure the printer is win 7 compatible and re-install the newest driver available.

Thanks for the quick reply! Is there anyway to determine where the usbscan.sys originated? ie: which package would have installed it? Otherwise, do I just be delete the usbscan.sys driver from the win/sys32 directory? I would think that if it is the culprit, that there may be other files associated with it that would be just as problematic, and if I don't know which package installed them, am not quite sure how to determine which package to uninstall.

From what I can tell from a quick search online, is usbscan.sys not a default MS Win7 driver? Could another package have replaced it?

On a side note, can you please direct me to a link which indicates how to produce the bugcheck report that you generated?
