I have some evidence that Microsoft has issued an update which slows down Windows Update.
I had been installing updates individually and after one the windows update slowed down to a crawl taking minutes to update the list of available updates. The update in question is one of the optional ones but I cannot identify it other than it became available between 1st and 25th March.

Has anyone seen a similar slow down?

It's understandable that now that windows 7 has entered extended support that the resources allocated to the OS will be reduced, as only security updates are now being worked on and offered for download there is not the need for the bandwidth allocation previously provided for a fully supported active Operating System.

This will inevitably result in a slow down in, perceived or real, update speed, especially if users are re-installing, (especially for pre SP1 versions which appear are still on many factory OEM recovery media)

My O/S is Windows 7 + SP1. Which I think is fully supported until 2017 or later.

LOL That's some very damming evidence you got there, Once this post reaches the major news organizations you will have single handily revealed that the conspiracy theories were correct about Microsoft wanting every Man Woman and child to ditch all earlier versions of Windows and to adopt Windows 10 as their main OS.

The name MacNala will go down in history as a hero, For years to come parents around the world will name their newborn children MacNala.

One thing though why would they create an update when all they had to do was add one line to their update server rules.

If I recall correctly service packs are supported until the expiry date of the pack or the end of support for the parent OS. Whichever is earliest
