I recently lost my desktop (it died) I found an old but still usable one and installed win 7 from my original installation cd. (i purchased a cd with 3 licenses). I tried the phone activation only to be told i had excedded my number of licenses. I assumed that when my old pc died i could install on a new machine, (maybe not). How do i get this fixed? Who can I contact at MS to explain that one of my 3 installs is now DEAD and I'm not trying to steal a 4th install?.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Hello BRSternal, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might try doing a phone activation again, but be sure to wait to speak with an activation operator to let them know your situation. I can't see why they would activate for you for that reason. :)

What type of License is it you're attempting to activate?
The only Multi-seat license available to the public is the Windows 7 Home Premium Family pack Upgrade (which was limited availability)

Full Licenses are all single-seat.

Please follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see what the problem is.

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!
