Hello eveyone!

I tried macs and I hate em lol... well anyways that doesn't make up the opinions of the world!

I'm wondering if anybody has experience with Leopard OSX and can therefore compare the experience with Windows 7.
I would love to know considerations from a much more experienced point of view.

James :)

Windows 7
I'm running dual-boot Windows 7 and Leopard 10.5.6.

The comparison would be definitely unfair. I was excited at first at how leopard works on PCs, and I must say it's quite interesting to work with, but it definitely cannot give you the easy-of-use that Windows 7 can..

A few comparisons:

Visualisation:
Leopard has transparency and some visual effects on dock icons/stacks etc. Also it has a nice i-phone-like feature while browsing pictures/music. But at first glance, this is as far as it goes.

Windows 7 with its new aero features like Aero peek, is far better.

Speed:

Ok, until Windows XP and Vista, Leopard was the master on boot speed and application runs.
Now with Windows 7 I counted boot times, and in my system it is like this:

Leopard: 36secs.
Windows 7: 24secs.

All counting after BIOS screen goes away.

Now there are several features that one OS has and the other doesn't , but I'd stick with Windows 7 since Leopard is fine but...lack of software equivalent to Windows is the main disadvantage. (There are similar and alternative apps for almost everything, but nothing compared to Windows applications number/quality.)

That's it for now

This thread might violate the Windows 7 EULA since Microsoft specifically mentioned not to compare the Win7 beta version with other RTM released systems.

well it might...if so, the admin should delete it. However, we're taking M$ side, aren't we? ;)

I also dual boot the two and I say give me Windows anyday.
I am not saying this because Windows is somehow better than OSX as OSX has its place and hell native hardware does look good and in the music business it is second to none for most people in a studio environment and there never seems to be the same kind of problems with OSX getting pluggins and hardware etc. working.
No I prefer Windows just mainly because I like to play with my opperating systems and Windows lets you do that as opposed to very little you can play around with on OSX. The interface on Windows 7 is so much better too. I personally think Windows 7 is everything an opperating system should be, well for home use anyway. I still have some shortfalls on the networking side but thats another story and most users would never have to get into that anyway. But it has improved on Vista so that has to be good.
Just one note though for network settings and configurability you still can't beat Windows 2000, hell those were the days. That was so easy to network. lol But then I am an old fool so slower to appreciate modern technologies. lol

I spoke about it yesterday - did I violate the terms? There was this one person who said OSX was a toy and the tweaker folks that I know personally that don't like windows, most haven't used OSX amd just don't know it well enough to really make a judgement call - my take is whatever works for you is what you should use.
