My win 7 laptop seemed to hang at user logon, no mouse or keyboard response.
I did forced shutdown.
After that Windows detect some problem, want to do the recovery boot.
It goes to the point where I see windows screen, I never see a logon icon.

How long should I wait ?

I try to boot from CD, the same. it hangs and I never see the user icons.
I try to run the repair option from CD. It hangs at Starting setup.

How can I, 1) schedule a chkdsk ? or 2) force a reinstall of Windows 7?

Hello Zqax and welcome to Seven Forums.

Try booting into Safe Mode from the Advanced Boot Options menu. If you can do so, see if you can roll back your computer to a date/time prior to the first incident using a system restore point.

Still in Safe Mode, see if your computer has any damaged or corrupt system files. Run a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two.) If problems are found, run the scan 3 times and reboot th ecomputer after each scan.

If none of the above helps try these troubleshooting tutorials:

If still no joy you might consider a complete reinstall of the operating system.

Safe Boot NG

I had tied t oboot in Safe Mode.

When the lap top gets to a later point in the process, there is momentary blue screen for core dump and then immediate rest and reboot.

Same as whem I try t oboot with out the repair option.

When I boot from Win 7 CD
For the repair tools I get the language selection but I never get to the screen where I get the repair options.

If I try to simply reformat, I get starting setup, Forever.

F8 Works Just Fine

I tried the options there, I cannot enter safe boot even from here. When just about to enter Windows, I get the instantaneous blue screen followed by reboot.

I cannot seem to get the point where I can to set chkdsk and restart windows.
