Win 7 x86 can't boot up, startup repair could not detect problem.

My system crashed on my acer laptop - I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary - It wouldn't boot back up. Would boot into safe mode so I did this & followed instructions to stop all other programs running other than microsoft, still wouldn't boot up - just hangs at the win7 logo screen. I tried system repair a few times & it reported problems that it couldn't fix. Then it wouldn't even boot up into safe mode, just get blank screen with cursor.

I created a new repair disk from my PC which is running fine, booted my acer laptop up from this ran system repair & it says it could not detect any problems, but still can't boot up even in safe mode.

The 100mb partition is the bootmanager for windows, and it should not be labeled with a drive letter.

How did this happen? Did you previously have a Dual Boot? Are you reading the drive letters from a boot disk which is not always correct? Start your own thread and provide a camera snap of your source output.

Just ran the start up repair 3 times re-booting in between then tried to boot up and got the following error;

winlogon.exe - Bad Image

c:\windows\system32\UXINIT.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again.

The error relates to AVG crapware which you either have or had installed. This is not recommended by anyone and is best uninstalled and replaced with Microsoft Security Essentials with the WIn7 Firewall kept updated Automatically.

If this was installed recently you may be able to System Restore from the DVD or Repair CD System Recovery Options to before it's install to get it Started. If not I would manually try restoring as far back as you can to try to start it.

Then if necessary continue with the other Troubleshooting steps from the top. What were the results of the AV scans? The AVG error could relate to its corruption by infection. You must complete every step to be assured you've done everything possible to start Win7 before giving up to rescue your files and run Recovery or Clean Reinstall.

Hi,

Please try this:

1. Click Start

2. In the search box, type cmd
3. In the list that appears, right-click on cmd.exe and choose Run as administrator
4. In the command window that opens, type sfc /scannow and hit enter.

Report the output once it finishes.

Are you able to perform option 8 in Greg's tutorial? Better still run the sfc using option 7 first.

Why don't you have Restore Points? Do you know?

What was the infection found by WDO?

You'll need to confirm WDO has disinfected completely, try booting into Safe Mode to run Malwarebytes or another bootable AV from list. Knowing the type of infection can help our Security experts tell you what to run to combat it, as can a quick Google search which may point you to one of the bootable AV's which specialize in that infection.

Once it's confirmed clean, then run SFC from installer/Repair CD Command Line as Colin suggested. Then if necessary work through the rest of the steps which try everything possible before rescuiing your data and running HP Factory Recovery or Clean Reinstalling.

I don't know why there were no restore points.

Don't know what WDO found, I left the quick scan running, when I returned it had re-booted & windows was ready with my username & it booted successfully.

I think that's the history being recounted.

So it's likely an infection, or the damage continuiing to be caused by remaining infection to System Files.

Be aware that with serious infection it is often easier in the long run to rescue your files (to quarantine for heavy scanning with Malwarebytes and your AV) then run Recovery or Reinstall.

But first try to learn the exact infection to post up in our Security forum while working through the steps to try to get it started to check performance stability.
