Be aware that with serious infection it is often easier in the long run to rescue your files (to quarantine for heavy scanning with Malwarebytes and your AV) then run Recovery or Reinstall.
I concur - in the worst case scenario its a difficult rootkit, and very few people try to clean those manually given the rate that they morph at. A clean install will definately sort that out though.

Scan finished - no virus reported just some malicious files ( didn't note names sorry ) cleaned up. Got system booted up, but took ages, ran the scannow which reported no problems. System boots up but takes 20-25 mins !!
Managed to transfer my files & docs so looks like I'm just going to have to do a clean install
