Solved Win 7Failure configuring Windows updates reverting.. Error: 80070003

When I run update below, this installs OK but then gives the error on reboot about gives " Failure configuring Windows updates reverting change..." The SFC Scan shows no errors. The sfc log text file contained no data.



The System Update Readiness Tool shows an error but can not fix it:

======== After much work I found a work-around. The key was to run the Win 7 update, then when Windows restarted press the F11 (or whatever works for the menu on your system) then select the hard drive that is listed on the boot menu to go directly back to Windows 7, by passing the bootloader manually by this means.

It allowed the Win 7 update to install.

Note: this is a fix for Windows 7 Error details: Code 80004005 which gives
" Failure configuring Windows updates reverting change..."

Sounds like your bootloader is/was corrupt by your workaround explanation. Sometimes not completing a Win Update will cause that as well.
run sfc /scannow and reboot also to see if you don't have a continuing issue.
If it continues, run System Update Readiness Tool x64 and post your CBS folder when it completes. The CheckSUR.log in the CBS folder is temporary in that location so if it isn't moved or copied and pasted somewhere else it will disappear and SURT will have to be run again. Microsoft, figures.
