Win. Def. Update failure

Windows Defender version 6.1.7600.16385. Last def. update 1.139.124.0. failed and at the bottom of win. def. reads latest definition is 1.139.240.0, created on 19/10/2012.
Checked for updates in Win. Def. and it said 'no new definitions or updates available'.

I have been searching & can't seem to find this definition to download & install. The Malware Protection Ctr. shows a different set of numbers (1.139.235.0) for windows 7, 64 bit.

Could someone please direct me to this definition so I can download & install it?

PS - also did a FIX-IT and it fixed afew things but can't see that it solved my problem.

Just a minute ago, I got a definition update version 1.139.124.0 which was successful - after I did a system restore.

I checked the MMPC website and the latest Windows Defender update is: 1.139.246.0 | Released: Oct 21, 2012 05:30 AM UTC.

Install the latest Windows Defender definition updates - Get the latest definitions - Microsoft Malware Protection Center

Make sure you select the correct download for either a 32-bit system or a 64-bit system. If the update doesn't install on your computer, please post back. (Note: it's not necessary to install an earlier update as the most current update will include all previous updates.)
