I had a 2 monitor system. A few moments ago monitor 1 quit. I rebooted into safe mode and assigned monitor 2 to monitor 1. It still shows as monitor 2 so I don't get a menu bar and all right click actions are invisible as they are still going to the virtual monitor 1.
How can I tell my system there is only one monitor?
Right now, I'm in safe mode.

Next time that happens just press Windows key +P - this should flip through the Monitors until you get a display on one Monitor. I've had the problem before where I've connected to HDMI cable to a laptop and selected output to the external monitor only. The following time I booted without the external monitor -- Windows started and then the laptops screen went blank. !! Windows key +P fixed it.

I agree but often when an old subject comes up again it is better, IMHO, to start a new thread as an answer to an old thread may not be relevant today. Over four years most programs have been updated many times and there have been hundreds of Windows Updates.
