Hi folks.

Sorry if I am posting this in the wrong location! If so, can a moderator please move this thread to the proper location and notify me via email? Thanks!

Please try not to flame me too much with what I am about to share here.

I use Win XP, and also have a couple of boxes running legacy versions of Windows that are strictly off line CPUs. But my primary OS is now Linux. As a result of barely touching Windows at all for the last few years, I am totally out of touch with Windows from a tech support standpoint. I barely use XP at all, and I am not an IT person. I am just a user.

I have a friend who is having severe problems with his Win Vista laptop. He asked me to help him. And in order to help him, I myself need help.

I asked my friends in the Linux forum I use for a recommendation for a good Windows support forum. All of my Linux buddies ranted and raved about how great Seven Forums is.

My problem is that when I select the "Vista Forum" link off the main page I get sent to Vista Forums.

Is Windows Vista Forums forum maintained by the same people who run Seven Forums? Or is it a totally different forum run by totally different people?

I am hoping that Windows Vista Forums forum is run by the same people who run Seven Forums! The guys in my Linux forum gave you people an A+ recommendation. I also have lurked around on Seven Forums and I can see why. You folks are extremely knowledgeable and friendly.

I tried looking at the Seven Forums FAQ, but I did not see anything that talked about "If you need help with a version of Windows that is NOT Win 7, then do this...", etc..

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

THANKS!

Short answer to you question is yes Vista forums/seven forums and eight forums has the same owner, z3r010 and all 3 forums are moderated by and have many of the same members. Most members here, were or are still members of Vista forums and due to the friendly atmosphere of all 3 forums a lot of members have joined all 3 forums. If you or your friend with the wayward vista laptop were to join Vista forums you can be assured of receiving the same quality of assistance that is provided by this forum. All that is required is to explain your problem as clearly as possible and to provide the system specs of the laptop.

spinifex,

Right, I did see the link and I did go to Vista Forums. But my concern was that Vista Forums was run by / moderated by the same people as Seven Forums. But IownAmoneyPit answered that for me.

I do thank you for your help though!

IownAmoneyPit,

OK, that is all I needed to know! I have already typed up most of what I wanted to ask about my friend's laptop and will be posting a thread soon. And yes, I will be providing everything that you stated.

I will explain the problem, provide the system specs of the laptop, etc.. I am also going to share what I have found by trying to solve this problem on my own with my very limited knowledge.

Thank you, IownAmoneyPit. You provided me exactly with what I needed. I am going to join Vista Forums and post my thread within a day or two. (I have a couple of previous commitments that I have to take care of, otherwise, I would post my question tomorrow).

THANKS!

Thanks again.

Ratchet1 as I pointed out in an earlier post many of the current members of Seven Forums are also members of Vista forums (excluding me) but contribute their knowledge and expertise to both forums thus any question you may have reguarding Vista would be better answered over at Vista Forums as the origanal intent of the owner and moderators was to create seperate forums for each Windows operating system.

OK, thanks for reminding me of that.

But I just thought that since many of you belong to both 7 Forums and Vista Forums, I would invite you guys to join me over at Vista Forums. Seeing as how I probably will not be posting here at 7 Forums again for quite some time from now.

Anyway, if it is OK to do this just this one time, if any of you want to take a look at my thread on Vista Forums, you can see it here:

Vista: Deleted %PUBLIC%\Desktop\ folder. Can not install software as a result. - Vista Forums

And I promise I will not do the above again! Seeing as how I now know that Vista questions are to be answered in Vista Forums. Just thought I would invite you guys, is all.

Thanks again IownAmoneyPit.

Thanks again to all of you who helped out in this thread!
