After a recent clean re-installation of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit the PC will not power off, or shut down to Re-start either. I have to switch it off for a reboot. No bugs are showing after scanning with Avira Antivir and also with Spybot Search and Destroy.
As the PC is still not stable I am not updating with the new Service Pack 1.
Would appreciate the help of knowledgeable person/s that may know how to trouble shoot the condition I am describing for my Desktop?

Maybe there's something wrong with one or more of your system files. Open command prompt (start - run - cmd) and type in "sfc /scannow" without the quotes, then post back with results.
