I unplugged my old win 7 ide SATA HD and booted up with only new SSD and windows 10 DVD and noticed right away that I couldn't type in the correct 25 digit product code (it was typing out a "1" for a "J" an "6" for a "0" and an "S" for a "i") BUT next to the open box there was a icon to use the on-screen keyboard --- and that worked fine so I continued and the install went well -- then I noticed that my keyboard was still doing the crazy typing.

So i'm here using the old ide sata win 7 HD.

I've tried a lot of google suggestions and nothing to date has fixed this issue, do you know of anything to fix same ??

Could just be a keyboard going bad; what happened when plugged into another computer? I'm assuming a USB or wireless keyboard.

Yes, it's USB and i bought a new one only to do the same thing and both work fine on both of my win 7 pc's.

Sounds like the external keyboard is in some sort of "laptop" mode. On many laptop keyboards, if you press the FN key, you will get a 2nd set of characters for some of the keys.

There's probably no way to change this on the keyboard; I think Windows 10 is redefining your keys.

If you boot one of the other computers with the Windows 10 disk and with that keyboard plugged in, do you get the same behavior? Now try yet another external keyboard while booting with the Windows 10 disk, and see if the problem continues.

I use Samba to share my data drive with the other computers at my house and with my guest session in VMWare Workstation Player.
Thanks but I don't have but one SSD with windows 10 to try, I have tried 2 different keyboards and both had the same result.
