I recently bought USB TV box (Dany ,U-1050). It is a nice product except that they don’t have its driver for win7 64bit:sarc: (though they have its drivers forXP, Vista, Win7 32bit). Is there any solution other than installing dual boot with Win7 32bit? Any help please..

Thanks a lot pebbly for your reply. It did help as some applications which were not working properly are running fine. But the driver problem remains there. I ran the installation exe of driver in Vista mode and it installed alright but the windows did not recognize the 'Installed driver' itself. If I know where this driver (or any other driver) is installed, I may be able to set its compatibility mode the window Vista or some thing else. Can you please tell me where these drivers are installed, and do these have some exe files as application to run?

Zeni, have a look in device manager for any red triangles with yellow exclamation marks on them,if so right click on them and "update driver".
Can you tell us a little more info on the drivers and apps that are not working correctly? :)

In "devices and printers" It indicates USB Tv Box as a device which had no driver installed ( though In have installed the driver) and at update driver command it could not find any driver for the device.

in the drivers folder of the downloaded zip file ,go to the winxp/vista subfolder (or you can use the win7 32bit)in there is a setup.exe file right click on it >properties>compatibility> tick run as vista> tick run as admin> apply and ok> exit , right click on the setup.exe file again and "run as administrator", do the same with the stup.exe files in the applications folder , hope that helps :)

Your TV box is actually a rebranded Gadmei. I found this out by looking in the driver inf files.
product
Good place to start, there is driver downloads on the support page, find a model that is close and see if there is 64 drivers.

Welcome to Seven Forums. You should have relatively no problem getting your 32bit applications/software to install, they'll just end up in the X86 program file. As for a 32bit driver working on a 64bit OS. this isn't going to work. You'll need to find a 64bit compatible driver. You can right click on the device in device manager>properties> details tab>drop down menu>select hardware id>Copy and Paste the hardware id string and maybe a driver can be found using the id string. Thanks Fabe

Thanks pebbly, I already did just as you said but it didn’t work. Thanks Sanvean for the link, you are right. These are just the same product and same driver, I am very surprised.
Thefabe I did as you said and here is the hardware ID
“USB\VID_1F71&PID_3301&REV_0100
USB\VID_1F71&PID_3301 “
Hope it would be helpful in finding driver. I am waiting anxiously.

You need a 64-bit driver for a 64-bit OS regardless of what version of what OS you're running.

after having another look at the drivers i see they are not digitaly signed and i think thats where the problem lies , you can run the OS in test mode to force the drivers to install , perhaps a member who has experience of the 64bit system will be kind enough to explain how to do that ;)

finally solved!!!

:D:D The solution that worked for me is dual boot Win7 32bit/win7 64bit. I installed both the operating systems and i am able to work with Dany U-1050 TV device on 32bit OS(because they have driver for only this OS). Previously I installed virtual PC and XP mode, but as the application is graphic based and you have no control over resolution in this mode, so i think this is suitable for those application which are not grahic based (pictures, videos etc.). I am very very greatful for the help extended by all the friends in this forum. Other wise it would not have been possible for me to solve this problem. Thanks again.

If you get tired of dual booting you could see if it will work in "XP Mode". I believe that is a 32 bit virtual OS.

As I already mentioned, I first tried 'XP Mode' but in it you only have resolution with 16bit color which is not suitable for watching TV or pictures or something graphic based.

Um OK, I ran XP mode on my PC and I'm pretty sure I was able to get my normal 1280x1024 and full color. I don't have it installed at the moment to confirm it though. Anyway you got a working solution so thats what counts. :)

Just figured I'd help clarify two points made in this thread:

1. A 32-bit driver will never, ever work in a 64-bit operating system, (OS X only does this because the kernel is 32-bit, which is because they don't have 64-bit kexts for all hardware). The kernel is what talks most directly to the hardware, and for that to happen, the memory addressing and whatnot all have to be alligned in this respect.

2. Windows Xp Mode/VPC7 uses the Terminal Services RDC to display video to the user. Because of this, Xp Mode does in fact run in 16-bit color.
