No I just backed up thinking all data would be backed up, outlook saved junk mail and other mail which I did not require. I did back up my Incredimail as a seperate item, all the rest like my Sage Payroll and accounts goes external. So I have lost the outlook data then? :(

Most likely, unfortunately. For future reference, when dealing with Outlook, you can export any or all information to a .pst file from within Outlook, and then import it back into a new install.

I have just done a search and found four *.pst files each related to an different email address, all on the same date, three the same size and one smaller. I am using 2010 which I recently upgraded to from 2003 quite a big jump, when you brought up the export thing I had a look under file and cannot see an export only an import option. I will explore the four files I found.

Hi Ken,

I haven't followed the entire thread, but if I understand correctly, you backed up some Outlook data and have located some .PST files.

There is a FREE viewer that will allow you to examine them without having to setup accounts in Outlook. This way you can see whether its worth keeping them. I have never used it before, but if it works it might be useful to you.

PST Viewer - Free tool to open and view content of PST files without Ms Outlook

Regards,
Golden

Looks as if I will have to bite the bullet, in the past I have always had those little nigs with backup, I use Incredimail and store a rake of information in folders, receipts and other important stuff. Must try to find a way of backing that up safely.

Thanks for advise. Ken

Incredimail is fairly easy to backup everything. If I'm not mistaken they even have info on backing up your Incredimail folders. It's been about 4-5 years since I had to reimage my parents computer. They use Incredimail also.

I like your analagy "... and store a rake or information in the folders...". That reminds me of Family Guy when he was picking on Jackee Harry about food. "A hammock of cake".
