win7 64 freeze won't install over 20,000 hits on a search in forum

New asus x79 computer-Intel I7-3930 3.2 ghz navid gtx560ti

I came from xp-pro back in November and bought win7 ult. with both 32 & 64 bit disc.
I am running W7-32 now for over 3 months w/o one hiccup. I really have started to like it from xp pro.

But W7-64. But like the title says--when I entered "win7 64 freeze won't install",,the counter hit over 20,000 post.

Have not read all of those, can't read all the ones I find on google--but it says something about this OS and my experience also.

Read and done so much now it's crazy. Remove hardware, remove ram, (none of which you should have to do anyway), set bios at basic defaults--etc etc--W7 64 loads-reboots & freezes at bootup screen. 2 times after walking away and coming back after 30 minutes, I saw it go to the setting registry setting page--where it stayed forever and never went past. Left it like that for over 3 or 4 hours one try, while I went out to work on my bikes, then came back and rebooted to the other drive that has W7 32 to read some more.

Some people are going to say this, but I don't have a hardware problem, if I did W7 32 wouldn't be running so well. Can't be other programs, W7-64 is trying to be installed and is the only thing on the drive, it's causing it's own freezing or corruption.

My opinion only--it's poorly written. Read post of what people do to keep it running after they have been lucky enough to get it installed--it's impossible to think about spending that much time for that. I know there are people running it that are going to say I have it installed--but how many gave up-or are fed up as I am in trying to get it installed--or keeping it running as oppose to W7-32. To many post to count. Never had a problem with a MS product like this--not W3.1- 95-98-xp-w7-32. Just bizarre.,

I would like to run it, if anyone after reading this doesn't consider it to much of a rant, has a suggestion I might try that I have maybe not read about now, tell me about it. Would greatly appreciate it.

Enough said. W7-32 really growing on me from xp-(loved xp-pro hated to move on).

There is nothing wrong with Windows 7 64 bit, the problem lies with your machine.

Didn`t that pc come with 64 bit pre-installed ?

Have you tried making a copy of your disc, it may be scratched.

If you have an activation key we can show you where to download a perfectly good working iso.

Where did you get your windows 7 from ?

There is nothing wrong with Windows 7 64 bit, the problem lies with your machine.

Nothing wrong with my machine--lets say for the sake of argument the people that got it to install by taking out ram, that's not the machine, that's the OS not interacting with the machine correctly. W7-64 can use how much--but for some people they just can't install it with that much first--has to be loaded in later. Come on! I won't even discuss that there is something wrong with this machine. If there was, it would probably show up it W7-32 someway also. Not as is 64- but in someway, and up to now, 7-32 has been flawless.

Well I would classify removing ram as a problem with the machine, as I have never had to remove ram in well over 100 installs of 7.

If it runs 32 bit, I see no reason why it won`t run 64 bit.

Try using a copy of your disc or give Greg`s tutorial a try.

Unplug all other HD's and peripherals,

Boot into BIOS setup, reset to defaults, save changes. If an EFI BIOS, enable Legacy BIOS or Compatibility Support Module, set DVD drive first to boot, HD second. Then set SATA controller to AHCI. Save changes and Exit.

Then boot into installer DVD or flash stick burned or written using tool and latest ISO for your licensed OS version here. If you try the DVD and it fails, try the flash stick method. If that fails, unplug the DVD drive and try again.

After booting installer at first screen Press Shift + F10 to open a Command Box, type:

DISKPART
LIST DISK
SELECT DISK 0 (after confirming Windows 7 target HD #)
CLEAN
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=102400 (for 100gb partition, adjust as desired)
FORMAT FS=NTFS LABEL="WINDOWS 7"
ACTIVE
EXIT
EXIT

Next click Install Now, then Custom install to Clean Install Windows 7 to the partition you created. If it fails then report back at which step and the verbatim error message.

In addition read over these steps to understand the tools and methods which work best to get and maintain a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. The steps are the same for retail.

After install you can adjust partition size or Create new partitions for data, etc. in Disk Mgmt.You are creating the partition here for the purpose of marking it Active which overcomes certain install failures.
