Win7 64bit SP1 sound lag freeze?

Hi,
I have a Dell Studio 540 CPU- Core2 Quad Q8300 2.5 w/7gb ram , 150gb master hd (8mb cache) and a 2tb slave hd 32mb cache) when I'm playing music and browsing at the same time I get a buzzing noise for a few seconds and the sound clears up.

If I rum my CC cleaner that clears up the problem for while.

I have done the complete Dell Diagnostics on the PC and everything checks out ok.

Could the issue be my 150gb hard drive w/ 8mb cache? Could I be doing too much for it to handle?

I do have a new WD 1tb 64mb cache green drive , should I just try installing that???

The PC works flawlessly otherwise, it just cant seem to handle playing music and browsing at the same time. I do not know if this would cause it but for the music I just created a shortcut from my 2Tb slave drive to my desktop and I do choose a lot of music at a time to be played?

I have tried the WMP 12 as well as other media players and still have the same issue.

What browser are you using?

Does the audio have the buzzing problem if you have the music and some other program open at the same time?

Does the buzzing happen on any specific web site or sites?

According to the Dell site, this has RealTek audio. Which driver do you have? The latest from Dell or the latest from the RealTek web site? Generally, Dell's like Dell drivers but if you have Dell driver, try the RealTek High Definition Audio Codecs driver from their site. Realtek

Yes on the buzzing while music and other program open at the same time. It seems to happen when I'm browsing say on Craigs list or web pages I guess it would be most of the time ??

I will be that that PC tomorrow and will report back.


FWIW I did go to the Dell download site and I believe I have the latest driver but will recheck.

Speakers and the pc actually lags and I get the buzz a sec. I do not use a headset. Please wait till tomorrow when I'm at the pc I will give the exact details...

Well loaded the rea ltech driver and I still have the same issue? Its a buzzing sound lagging when I say I log into my email, browse say on Craigs list or anything else when a large page loads...

Again would I possibly my that my master HD cache is too small and perhaps the HD is too small? As I mentioned my slave drive is 2tb . I have all my music on the slave drive and made a short cut from that to my desktop..

Master is:
Hitachi GST Deskstar T7K500 HDT725025VLA380 (0A33423) 250GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5"

Slave is:
Western Digital WD Green WD20EZRX 2TB IntelliPower 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5

On another note could it be a mismatched ram issue:

Update:

After I pulled and re-insetred the ram sticks and restarted the PC it seems to be working perfectly??? Would that have something to do with it or perhaps restarting the PC after I had installed the real tech driver?????

Will keep a watch on it and get back............

Ok,
Problem reappeared , but after I deleted the history (Google chrome) and restarted the pc its good again. Could this be a cache issue w/ the HD or possibly the ram??

Ok now I installed a new 1tb 64mb cache hard drive. (WD av-gp wd10eurx Green Drive) so I gave this another try with WPM playing and browsing. It was ok for some time and again this problem reappeared but not as bad??

Say if I have music playing and I'm signing into Yahoo or Google account the music skips/freezez for a few sec's and I get a slight buzz. This also happens if I'm browsing Craigs or Ebay or just about anything else. I also have tried this with a different media player (Cowon) same issue.

I'm using Google chrome, if I clear the history and restart the pc it will be good for awhile then start all over again. This ia driving me nuts!!!!

I just ordered a few more 2gb ram sticks so they will all be Elpida 2gb 2Rx8 pc2-6400ou-666 they will be here later this week so I will have 8gb of matching ram.

If this does not do it I do know where to turn next? I have read about this issue online but never figured or saw a fix.

Again I ran all the Dell Diagnostics that were available and everything checked out OK.... Also have the latest real-tech drivers

Ok so the new memory arrived and I popped it in . The pc is much smoother and I only encountered the buzz/lag for micro sec so I think I'm on the right track!

Also what I have just realized is that the new 1tb HD I just installed is a WD av-gp wd10eurx Green Drive green drive that me really made for storage (photos, pix' and music etc) I guess it spins a different speeds to save on electricity.....

So that may be the last piece of the puzzle. So who could recommend a good hard drive for my PC. it looks like all of a sudden the market is flooded w/ HD's made by various manufactures that are designed just for back up and not being used as a master drive...

It gets confusing with the NAS, Red, Blue etc logos on these. I can not afford a SSD or I do not think that benefits of a hybrid drive due to the cost.

I'm just looking for a 1tb hard drive that can be used for a master HD application that has a 64mb cache and spins at 7200 rpm....................

Ok after months and months this issue still goes on, I have 1 Dell Isperion laptop, a Alienware Aurora and Dell Studio 540. All run Windows 7 64bit Home , all have the latest drivers and even the Alienware had a new WIn 7 64bit home installed by Microsoft.

This issue still continues with no fix, if your playing music and browsing on Ebay, Craigs or even doing your email the music lags, buzzes and then catches back up. My Alienware has tons of ram, processors so that is not the issue.

Can anyone answer why or what is causing this freaking problem its driving me nutzzzzzzzzzzz..

Also I do have Zone Alarm paid version and have tried that w it disabled and same thing.
