Hello everyone, my name is Randy and I found a lot of useful information on here - I hope I'm posting this in the right section, if not please move.

First off, I'm not a super computer guy, but I get by lol -

I bought a Dell last year, with a dual hard drive - For w/e reason everything installed on my much smaller C drive, while I have 400GB free on my D drive.

I realized much too late, I needed to "extend" my C drive - So I copied everything off the D drive, and deleted it to free up the space I needed - Then I tried to "extend" my C drive and its greyed out and won't let me -

Here is a screenshot -

Now looking around the net, it seems this is an issues with some models. I see some people are suggesting a 3rd party partition program to deal with this issues. My far is, if I mess up will I break my comp?

Is the software easy to use? I don't mine paying for software, or even paying someone to do it for me even - W/e would make this as painless as possible would be great -

Anyone care to make some money and help me through this? :)

Where it says Free Space. The rightmost box with the Green. If you right click in that box there should be a choice to Delete it. Then it should say Unallocated. Once it's unallocated, you should be then able to expand C:.

Especially if you have done this type of thing often it's a good idea to get an image backup program such as Macrium Reflect or similar and save all your partitions to an external USB drive if you have one.

This case should be simple though. If you unallocate and it still doesn't give an option to expand C: then something is weird. If anything is weird just abandon all changes.

Sweet that did it, thank you very much!

I moved all the memory over to the C drive now -

Now it might be a little late, but is there any drawbacks to just having all the memory on one drive??? Will it cause any issues?

None at all except that if the drive goes walkabout you'll lose anything that isn't backed up.

Just one small point, it's normally referred to as hard drive space rather than memory.

Pleased to hear you got your problem sorted out and thanks for posting back.

MilesAhead will appreciate the feedback as will those that have a similar problem.

Ok gotcha - Thanks again - I keep a constant backup so hopefully if it does mess up, then I'll be alright.

Thanks again!

Looks like you might be missing the Utility Partition.

Hmm well, I read thorugh that - I've had this laptop about a year now - About 8 months or so ago, I did call support and I finally decided to do a "system restore" which out the laptop back to the "As shipped" state -

So is that what you think I might be missing? Also, all I've done is delete my filed which I had moved onto the D drive - Before I put anything on the D drive, it was empty. So I don't think I've removed anything -

I keep restore points and such as well -

Anyway, I'm not really sure what you mean, or what I might need to do. So if you could expand on what you meant?
