Firstly, what is your DC running? 2003/R2, 2008? Also make sure your ip configuration is correct for your network and you can ping both the DNS server and the Domain Controller.

Welcome to SF,

Make sure that your Windows Server has DHCP and DNS configured properly. The DNS Address should be the IP Address of the Windows Server. I actually never had an issue even the router has DHCP enabled and distributing the IP's in the network.

Also, they should have an account to AD Users and Computers Active Directory before joining the Domain.

A few things:
1. Do not use the DHCP from the Router on client PCs as they will give the wrong DNS addresses.
2. Configure clients using a static IP address and configure DNS to point to DNS on your DC Server (if you still want DHCP, enable and configure DHCP on the DC server, and disable it on the router).
3. If you have pointed client to DC's DNS server but cannot get internet access, configure Forward address on DNS (see properties of server) to point to router's IP address or usual ISP's DNS addresses.
