win7 crashes during install

After starting the computer, everything works fine - boots from the install dvd, loads the files but after it reaches the 'Starting Windows' screen the computer crashes ('least I think it does - I get the lost monitor signal error message)

This is actually the second installation of windows 7 I've done. First time everything worked great but when I restarted the computer after installing the gpu drivers I started getting the crashes.

So I did a full reformat of the hard drive - removing the windows7 installation with it but ironically it didn't solve the problem.

The only thing I can think of is something somehow went wrong with BIOS, but if that's the case I have no idea the problem exactly is.

Any ideas?

The screen pauses for a minute and goes black after it loads DRIVERS/disk.sys during the safe mode installation. :/

Does your rig have a lot of things using power? there is a thread on another forum about failure on win 7 because the user had like 5 cards, 3 disks, ... and his solution was to reduce the power usage. Hope it helps
