Win7 defragmenter analyzes SSD frequently

guys, thanks a lot for the inputs.
If the defrager checks the drive once a month, or a week, I wouldn't bother monitor it. However when it analyzes every day, I then would like to know if i set sth wrong. It's an annoying thing I just happen to find.

I'll turn off the defrag scheduler first and monitor a few days and look whether it helps. If not, I'll then turn off defrag completely. I'll let you know what I find.

Any idea how to find the origin of the defrag event? like which program called it with what options

Yeah, I have Magician. But I don't want defrag to be turned off completely. I am hoping the system can defrag my HDD like once a month.

You can configure the Windows defrag scheduler and use the Select disks option.

My suggestion is to completely disable Disk Defrag from services..

I use contig all the time and have it schedule to do my defrags.... If you prefer i can provide you with the command line switches to get running for you.

Probably your best option would be to completely turn it off as suggested and use the Auslogics Disk Defrag program.
It will only analyze and defrag the disks that you select.
It also has a scheduler.

That should keep your SSD from being analyzed.

I think you are right. My windows 7 indeed does those regardless of the schedule settings.

Well Contig is a single-file defragmenter that attempts to make files contiguous on disk. Its perfect for quickly optimizing files that are continuously becoming fragmented, or that you want to ensure are in as few fragments as possible.

its a sysinternals program ... and i can vouch for all my clients it does its job pretty well... its a command line util ... and doesn't have the dressings of a full blown defragmenter like Auslogics or Defraggler or O&O ..
