win7 Drive Lettering? c: c1: c2: ???

I am looking to do a backup scheme with attached drives.
i have a lot of drive letters already. So lets presume for example i have 26 drive letters ascribed.

is there away to mount the next 26 drives as
a1:
b1:
c1:
d1:
x1:
y1:
z1:
and so forth? This would allow me to do synchronization every week or so, Live, between each used drive and each backup.
x: -> x1:
b: -> b1:
etc.etc.

In a word NO you can sync drives but the limit is 26

When you say "drive letters", the term "letter" is strict here and can only be a single (english) letter, from A to Z.

If you need more than 26 concurrent drives you could make them "take turns" to share the existing letters (mount/unmount them in turn), mount them to empty NTFS folders or use their full UNC path with their uniqu GUIDs.

However, my first recommendation would be reviewing why do you need more than 26 drives at once, something smells bad from a management point of view, rather than the Windows limit being the culpit.

Nope nothing nefarious. just different partitions managing different things.

thats 25 i know. but its darn close to limit. not every one of thoes above is a separate drive some are just separate partitions. kept at particular manageable sizes in case i DO have to move them to a separate drive at some point. Hopefully this resolves your SUS on my layout. But what comes next is probably "Well why dont you just organize MY SMART WAY instead of your dumb way." and that is not what the OP is about. Not the question im trying to solve here.

The answer above with the guid method sounds pretty nice to me though. can you explain more about that answer im not at all familiar with transfering data to unmounted drives vie GUID. that sounds Really really cool! @.@?

[EDIT] what im up to over all, is attaching 9 additional disks, to make copies of all 25 partitions above. minus C: which i turn off the pc for, and put in a SSD/HDD clone tool. so i have a safe state for it. and you know. avoid Data Forensics Recovery costs. @_@
[EDIT2] Also yes im planning to go to Linux mint cinnamon next, and emulate my 7. &10 when steam stops loving us 7 users in 2024, and maybe a win12 when the forced push occurs for that. But by then i hope to be cozy with linux enough that i wont need windows monoply OS even through wine.
