I will be purchasing Win7 Pro within the next few days. I am now running Win7 Evaluation Build 7100. So I was wondering what would be the easiest and best way to move from the one to the other. If possible I would not like to have to reinstall all my programs and games.

Any advice here will be greatly appreciated :D

A clean install is always the way to go with a new OS ... be sure to image your drive/partition when you have it installed and running..

I must admit I do prefer doing a clean install but I really don't feel like all the work that has to go into it getting my system back to what it is now. For some reason you can never really seem to get all the apps working the way you had them before the install :D

Dirtrider, you might save time in the future doing a clean istall. Microsoft stated that there are differences from the RC7100 to the retail version that might not be corrected with an upgrade, in other works, you might carrry on junk that is not supposed to be there from the RC to your final install.

You'll be better off to do the clean install. Load your programs and use Windows Easy Transfer - Transfer To & From Computers to get all your user settings just like they were before. I've used it several times and it's got the same feel as you had with your previous OS. Everything will be fresh.

DR, listen to TEWS and Dave is the best advice I can give you!
Regarding the games, just check if they don't save settings and game progress files in the "C:\Program Files\whatever game\.. "folders. If so make sure to backup those. If not what Dave suggested should migrate everything.

Here is the deal. 7100 is ultimate. In order to use pro and not have to do a clean install you are going to need to do some work look here UNAWAVE - Downgrade Ultimate to Home Premium or Professional

Hope this helps
