Hi.

My friend wants to download a small text file from his hosting account. He connects via the FTP command line program.

He can successfully log in using the FTP credentials. He can see the file listed, and when he issues the GET <filename> command, it downloads.

However, when he opens the file in Notepad or even WordPad, only 2 and 4 bytes respectively (of the 7 bytes that are there) show up.

FWIW, I can log in, and get the file too. My downloaded file shows all 7 bytes in a text editor.

Any ideas?

Welcome to the windows 7 forums.

Your friend might have his configuration for ftp to be binary instead of ascii
have him type ascii before he gets the file once he is connected.
