Hi,

I'm experiencing a strange problem when installing Windows 7. At the file expansion stage, error code 0x80070570 appears and my installation fails.
Funny thing is, I installed 7048 from a DVD burned image 2 weeks ago and it worked fine. Downloaded 7057 and durned the .iso to DVD and when trying to install to formatted partition this error appeared. Since then I can't re-install 7048 either!
This is driving me crazy, I've tried different DVD drives, re-burned the .iso's at slow speed, but no luck.
Anyone managed to resolve this problem?
BTW, I am installing x64 versions...
Thanks

Make sure you take your computer CPU and memory overclocks back to original specs. I can install by x86 without any problems but always have to take off my overclocks when I install or upgrade my x64 versions.

Thanks bummpr. My CPU and memory is at original specs.
In my desperation to try and figure this out, i formatted the partition and tried installing my Beta1 7000 build from DVD as I have done a number of times before. Lo and behold, the same error! Same error with 7048. Downloaded 7057 for a third time, same error!
I am now going to format my entire HD and start from scratch. If that does not work, I promise you I will eat my hat!

Ouch...good luck with that! Don't start chewing that fedora yet...if it worked once, it will work again (somehow).

Did you try installing the x86 version? I really struggled with almost every x64 install but every 32 bit worked without a hitch.

hey... i also have the same issue... i used to be able to install the 7000 version but now i just get the that extremely annoyin error... i tried to install the 7057... btw... dubya where did ya get 7057... i got mine from mininova... so just wondering if it could be that.... i think i can rule out disk problems because... both of my drives don't install this stuff... and are givin me the same error at the same places... between 22-34% and i only got past the expansion part twice but , first was with the 7057 but it ended at the completing installnation with an error saying it couldn't start up a service or something like so i reinstalled and then it completely installed but then when it was goin to the boot screen an error poped up sayin my adapi.sys was corrupted or missing .... which ticked me off because i was almost done...i really need help...

Give this a shot, if you have a USB flash drive lying around.

@Killerinstinct: I got my download form Mininova too. The error occured at different stages depending on which DVD image I used, but it never got any further than 50% in the expansion stage.
I've since reformatted my HD and installed Vista again (without any problems) so my only conclusion is a faulty Windows 7 iso image.
@angryman: Thanks for the suggestion, I will try to install from flash drive...
Watch this space, I will report on my progress.

@dubya : i think its not a faulty iso ... because i've tried 7000 which came up with the same error... but i got that iso from the microsoft site... also i been reading around... formattin with the win 7 happens too quickly ... so this guy reformated the partition in Vista... and it fixed the error... tryin that... also another guy removed his ram because they were bad... and he only used the good ones.... thats another theory ... gonna try that if the formattin thing doesn't fix it... and btw... get ur iso on a different comp.... and use a bitorrent program and force recheck the iso ... just to make sure... these are none of my ideas... only stuff i've found lookin around.... oh what dvd type you using.. i'm using DVD+R

@angryman: i tried the boot from USB but same... error... i'm thinkin its either the disk or ISo....

EDIT: actually when put the iso on a other comp .... and force checked it... it was only at 93 % so .... i guess it was a faulty iso.... but not sure... gonna check it soon...hopefully it works...

EDIT#2: k ... its not ISo... gonna try doin it from inside Windows Xp

EDIT#3: tryin to run in xp didn't work.... gave me different error... i just ran memtest86 and found out that 3 of my ram slots are damaged... one is extremely damaged... so i took out rams on the bad slots... and tryin to install with 1 ram slot... post back soon on my comp hopefully

EDIT#4: YES IT WORKS...... :D..... i just had to take out the ram on the bad slots.... now it installed completely... ram was the problem ... thx everyone

yea, I had this same problem on another spare rig i tried to fire up yesterday... i think its due to ram or i possibly need to update bios on this old board.... may get around to fooling with it later on today. I already swtiched out dvd drives, put drives on different IDE channels... but happens every time... different bsod's tho, some are the simple upper left corner, some are the XPish full page contact admin bsod... but all happen at same point at install, right after it loads files and tries to uncompress... I'm only using a 512 stick atm, and have two additional to swap out, so will find out something hopefully. trusty 7000 build, so its not the dvd or build, and media is flawless (suprisingly).

Thanks for all the suggestions guys! Unfortunately I'm not getting 7057 x64 installed. I have no bad RAM, 7048 x64 installed successfully in the end after I formatted the drive in Vista, which tells me my hardware is fine and even after downloading 7057 x64 3 times over, I still have the same problem even after trying the upgrade route, booting from flash drive and DVD.
I'm now downloading the 7057 32-bit flavor to see if I have better luck...
I decided not to eat my hat (sorry to disappoint) but I may start pulling out little clumps of hair from my head until I am completely bold!

Happy computing, geeks!

Hi all.
Just joined the forum to offer a suggestion :)

In the bios change hard drive mode AHCI to ATA... give that a try!! Simple but effective!

Had the same error usung aWindows 7 Home Premium upgrade disk from Amazon to upgrade vista running on my Asus laptop.
Tried all the tips about removing memory sticks, spare hardware etc all to no avail.
Finally brought Vista up in Safe mode and re-ran the 7 custom install and voila perfect install!

Had the same error x80070570, pulled ram till I got a good pair.
Oddly, I had a HD go bad at the same time, couldn't write O's to it. It's on a UPS so I'm thinking a bad Power supply.
