win7 keeps on Network Identifying..how to speed up that?

Whenever i boot up my win7 x64, on the lower right side of bar the blue circle keeps on spinning while it says windows is identifying the network, any idea how to speed up the process of network identification, it takes about 3 mins:sarc: to identify the network,...fyi i am not using wireless router, it is Motorola surfboard

your help would be appreciated, thank you

On my system it was my Epson printer's "EventManager" application that was doing it. I stopped that from starting when the computer started and it solved the problem.

You can check to see what you have starting on Startup by looking on the Startup Tab in MSCONFIG. (Type that in the Start box).

Most everything on the Startup Tab does not *need* to run, but you can experiment by unchecking them one at a time and Restarting to see if any one of therm causes your problem.
