Win7 Network Issues

This problem has become progressively worse.

It started out months ago, when ever I would try to do multiple things over my network connection on my Win7 machine, the network connection would just die, and I'd have to disable/enable my LAC to get a connection again.

This included opening up too many tabs in firefox, or trying to stream music off my other PC, play a game, use vent, and web browse etc. It seemed to be linked with the # of active connections I had.

Well now it's doing something entirely new, and I need help. When ever I try to do anything streaming, it's just not responding. It sets up the initial connection, downloads a little bit, then just stops responding. I can still go to web pages and load them easily (provided they're not large pages), but if I try to watch a video, it only loads parts and doesn't play. I tried running the Pandora app I've used up until today without issue, and all it does is open, load the song, then stop. I tried streaming audio off my other PC, and all it does it load the play list, but doesn't play.

Could be countless things, down to the driver you're using for your NIC. (We're talking about a wired pc here, right?)

I'd start by scanning with Malwarebytes to ensure a clean system. Hopefully you're not rooted lol.
Make sure your router is in a relatively cool place and not near the exhaust of pc heat.
Disable any 3rd party antivirus and/or firewall as a test effort.
Disable IPv6 permanently if you do not use Homegroup.
If you disable IPv6, open services.msc and disable IP Helper service.
Permanently disable DNS Client service.
Important: Make sure Bonjour service is not in services or mdnsresponder.exe is not in task manager. Google how to get rid of it if it is.

If nothing helps, I'd consider completely uninstalling any AV or firewall. There is a big difference with uninstalling as opposed to only disabling. Complete removal is necessary for testing purposes.

You could check to see if there is a firmware update to your router as well.

It's connected via cat6, and it's done this since I reformatted and installed windows7.

I found out that my network dropping entirely was due to something going on with my G35 drivers. Because I'd disable/enable them, and my network would work fine.

But my connection dropping out when I overload the network is still happening regardless of my G35 or not.

It's ziptied under my desk, with all vents clear and plenty of air flow. It's been running fine, and my XP machine that's also connected to it never has any issues. In fact, my main PC that's having the issues, ran fine as well, and never dropped a network connection UNTIL I installed windows 7.

Couldn't find any Bonjour service under my Services on my task manager. I couldn't find mdnsresponder either. I assume those are viruses?

I have IPv6 Disabled now, I'll let you know if the problem persists.

I never had any problems with my router when both my machines were XP, and even now my 2nd PC (the xp one) never drops connection. Should I still look to see if there's a firmware upgrade for it?

Nope. tried bypassing the router and everything listed here.

It's fine when it's just normal traffic, or 1 connection. But if I try to say load several youtube videos, or open tabs, or stare at it funny, it'll drop connection, and I have to disable/enable my LAC.

That sounds like a router issue to me. Doesn't mean it's so...but sounds like it. Latest firmware always good.

I know you say you bypassed so in this case, some kind of hardware issue. How's the cable condition you're using?

I have to type this response over again cause my network interface died again.

I'm having the same issues as stated above, and digging through the forums, looks like a lot of people are. Yet no resolution to the problem.

It is obvious it's not the router, at least in my case, as rest of the network and its machines keep on trucking.

Looking at Dracius's specs, he's running the same make board that I am 780i SLI. Maybe it's a problem with nforce boards or nforce drivers. Maybe just x64 versions as I run x64 and since he has 4gb of ram, I assume he's running x64 as well.

All I have to say, if this issue isn't resolved soon, I'll go back to Vista, it may be crappy, but the network is stable. And in today's environment, the network is everything.

Well 'I'm Having dns problem http://http://www.sevenforums.com/network-sharing/34932-network-issues-dns-failure.html talk about frustrating the net goes dead cant browse the net so I have to log into my SB5120 Modem restart wait 10sec and then use the web like normal. I'm exhausted if i cant fix it i hope MS comes out with a hot fix/update or one of these kind and knowledgeable users here can help fix it as I am not going back to xp just for an annoying connection problem. Also check with your isp I had a cable tech replace my old SA2200 box and laughed and told me that they had new webstar modems that do work on their network and my Surfboard might not be capable of handling the new upgrades on TWC side I hope you can fix your problem

Sounds reasonable. Those surfboard modems are ancient. Your isp has probably updated docsis by now and things are getting hairy for that modem. Tell them you want a new one.

I tell you I've bypassed my router... and you tell me it's a router issue...

I use CAT6 cable on my network. Also, the key part to keep in mind, is that I had no issues when on XP with this same box. I didn't take apart my whole network setup, and rip apart my desk when I installed WIN7. I just put in the DVD and my network connection magicaly became crap.

This means it has something to do with the combination of Win7, and my hardware. Which is why that fix that Lagair linked to might work. I'll post here with any updates after I get home to test further.
