As intro i copy paste this
And my question is why there is no tweak , or util program that works and offers old fashion process list and change of priority of the proces for that on off session.
There are several programs , include task manager who offers on paper that can do that but in reality it is non consistent.
One is weak to falling under the some level of cpu usage, other reset under the influence of unknown factor.
I don't need permanent , after reset , solution, just till reset solution.
Specific problem is software like vmware player who is just a shell who runs vmware core process.
Affinity of cpu cores is something else, with thread and smp hardware support.
Is that so beyond usual usage in today computer reality...squeeze CPU power for some project and limit other applications on machine.
Is there maybe problem with my win7, because my task manager holds settings only some tome, average half hour and then reset to default?
P.S. There are boost utils, that boost focus window with priority, but that is not very satisfying in general.
Another option. For example for Chrome.exe application:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\chrome.exe\PerfOptions]
"CpuPriorityClass"=dword:00000006
1 Idle
2 Normal
3 High
4 RealTime (n.a.)
5 Below Normal
6 Above Normal
Cannot set RealTime with this value, only with Task Manager.
