Win7 SP1 "successfully" installed but keeps showing in Windows Update

Hi guys,

I have been trying to install Win7 SP1 on my Lenovo SL410 laptop for the last couple of weeks now without success. The laptop would reboot and indicate configuring service pack, run till about 7-8% and restart after trying for a while. I have tried the steps stated on

without much success. I have also downloaded the stand-alone and faced the same symptom. This is a fresh factory restore and I have not used any regcleaners on this laptop.

Some of the error codes encountered were 800705B4, 800F0826 with the latest being 80200001. This is what my update history looks like (as attached). Though it indicates that SP1 has been successfully installed, it is not listed under installed updates.

I ran CheckSUR and no errors were found in the log.

I ran SFC and no integrity violations were found.

Your windows already shows Service Pack 1 in system properties doesn`t it ?

Nope it's not installed.

I am running the update as I am typing now and am currently at "Configuring Service Pack - 9% complete". Let's see what happens. Any advice would be much appreciated.

If it fails again...

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file

I'm not understanding things.
This laptop as far as I can tell came with Windows 8.1 and yet the log shows Windows 7 Pro OEM/SLP.

If you Google back far enough they came with XP Pro.

What am I missing??

If I missed finding this laptop that came with Windows 7.
SP-1 should of already been installed.

So I guess my questions are.

1. What Windows did this computer come with?
2. If it came with Windows 7 why isn't SP-1 already installed?
3. Is their a Windows 7 COA key sticker on the Laptop?

Win 8.x Pro machines can be downgraded to Win 7 Pro (many are that by default).
The key used for the downgrade is the OEM_SLP Key.
This needs the original manufacturer's recovery media for the job.

Installation of SP1 failed again yesterday. Screenshot with error code 800705B4

SFC /scannow did not find any integrity violations.

CBS.zip as attached.

windowsupdate.log attached. The latest SP1 update which failed took place on 2015/03/24 - 13:45.

Thank you in advance for looking into this for me. Let me know if it gets too messy. I am prepared to just do another factory restore and start over, hoping to not run into this problem again.

Hey guys,

wanted to let you know that I managed to get SP1 installed successfully and the problem was.......

AVG Anti-virus. All i had to do was disable the virus shield before rebooting and it worked like a charm. I am embarrassed that it took me 2 weeks to try that.

I did a factory restore, hence had to reinstall all the updates.
