Win7 stability, speed, reliability all degrading noticeably fast?

I posted into the "general" forum, not the problems one, because I'm not looking for solutions.

My question was simply whether or not people other than me have noticed Windows 7 getting more and more unstable/unuseable over time.

If there's 400M Win7 customers, and 16K people on this web site posting with Win7 woes, then according to Alexa (which tells us that 0.06% of internet users visit here), that means that 1 in every 15 Win7 customers has a problem sufficiently serious that they need to come here and seek help about it.

Sooo, if you had already made up your mind, why post at all there buddy? Win7 has no issues other than people try to do thing there own way, that's where we come in. You have 8 computers, all screwed up, and you own and operate them, methinks I have found the problem.

It's already been pointed out that your stats are wrong, but just for the sake of argument, let's take a closer look.

"1 in every 15 has a problem" - even if that were true, you should be able to double your eight computers before you reach 50-50 odds of having something go wrong.

Yet you are 8 for 8.

Did you tick off an old gypsy woman lately? A friend of mine did that, she put a curse on him, then he had nothing but bad luck for the rest of his life.

There is something else which defies probability even more than that does. I can't imagine someone investing all that time and money in eight computers, then visiting a top-notch tech site with people willing to help, then having that person be unwilling to even describe their problem. It just doesn't add up.

Your math is a bit lopsided. For the sake of argument, let's say that this forum is an indicator of the state of Windows 7. Do you account for:

1. Regular members here whose posts number in the tens of thousands?

2. A consistent influx of new 'resident' members, whose posting stats are steadily increasing?

3. That such members post multiple times to a given thread?

4. That many come here with elementary, customization, operational, 'can I do this' and a myriad of other minor issues, unrelated to the state of the OS?

5. And of course, the occasional troll, who knows which buttons to push and enjoys the reactions. These are generally new accounts, quickly abandoned (you might add that to your stats as well...).

I suspect that you belong to the latter. Not a problem here, as it does have entertainment value, but you should resist the urge to cite numbers that expose your intent.

And I might add, if you spent as much research time in finding out why you are having problems as you do in researching this site, you wouldn't have the issues you claim to be having.

Maybe the OP is just a frustrated Linux user looking for a place to do ... well, what Linux users do, crow about how much BETTER their O/S is!

Sorry ... couldn't resist. I hadn't seen anyone mention how great Linux is yet so I had to say something!

One other thing I just realized. Win7 has been so stable that I haven't done a system install (that I can remember) since January '10 - on any of those 5 machines (and they are all used a lot). Even with XP I was doing routine re-installs about once or so per year. None of my systems has had any problems. What's that, 18 months? I'd say it's pretty stable!

When I switched from XP to 7 I had numerous issues. Everything from BSODs to connectivity to programs not running. The very knowledgeable folks on this forum patiently provided solutions to my "problems". In each case, it turned out I was the problem because I wasn't familiar with 7's unique characteristics.

So as others have suggested, if you're looking for a solution to a specific problem, there are a lot of good folks here willing to help.

I've had myriad problems with Windows 7. I found this site to help me with those problems. All of those problems were resolved with the help of the kind people that are willing to take of their time to advise and help people like me.

BTW, the major problems I encountered with Windows 7 was, for the most part, caused by the device between the chair and keyboard. In other words "I" caused most, if not all, of my problems by doing things I knew nothing about. My system is now stable and most enjoyable.

I spend time here everyday to learn. Kudos and thanks to you folks for helping and sharing your accumulated knowledge to educate those of us who are inexperienced.
