Is it possible that (with the right maintenance) that Windows 7 starts up faster over time? I'm using my installation for a while now and the start up feels much faster than it did in the beginning. Also, applications show up almost immediately after openening them on a just started Windows 7. That took some time before.
I use CCleaner and a disk defrag program on a regular basis.

Hello hethoofd.

It's probably superfetch getting used to your preferences at startup, could also be indexing settling down.

CCleaner is pretty good. With defrag though, if you didn't do anything, Windows 7 auto defrags every Wednesday I believe and you really don't have to defrag unless you're moving around large sound banks, or video files (huge 1-4GB files), otherwise in my opinion I think windows 7 does a great job.

I also think it does boot faster. I just timed the desktop and mac (albeit firewire target disk mode (booting external OS) and Windows was faster.

Go windows, go, go, go, go... :D
