Solved Win7 Stuck at 30%

Hello. I have a machine running Win7 I only use for an arcade cabinet. I have everything running smoothly so i do not need to install updates. I mistakenly downloaded an update and now it is stuck as I powered down. It has been in this state for over 2 hours and says:

Configuring Service Pack
30% complete
Do not turn off your computer

I really do not need this update. Is there a way to go back before the update? I really do not want to reinstall windows again. I just did that about 1 month ago

Hi Uber,
You wll be able to remove it
ONCE its installed. -- and the safest to aviod system corruption.
hard resetting during install is bad enough on a single update, SP1 was a MAJOR upgrade!

You could try booting into Safe mode and use last known good.

Hopefully that should resolve it.

I powered down the machine and rebooted into safe mode. It automatically removed the partial upgrade and has been reset to last known functioning state.

Make sure you now have Windows Updates set to never check for updates.
