I have a strange problem, I run a 9800GTX+ with a dvi to vga adapter to my monitor and a dvi to HDMI adapter to my onkyo TX-SR507 amplifier which in turn has a hdmi to my LCD TV.

I use the amp for sound from the pc down the hdmi lead.

now if my TV is not on (but the amp is) then windows decides to HIDE my desktop on my monitor with wallpaper... i mean no mouse, no taskbar, nothing... but everything is still there BEHIND wallpaper.. EG: if i press email button on keyboard when i put TV on again outlook will be sitting there on my monitor.

turning my amp off also works.

i have tried CLONING displays but still same thing??

had no problem like this on vista - and i have the newest graphics card drivers.

any ideas????? :geek:

ok i just pressed windows +P whilst the desktop was hidden behind the wallpaper... and it brought it back with display settings... and amp wasnt ticked (amp was turned on but TV off).

I then ticked this again. exited and all seems to be ok.. i now have amp on and TV off and can see my desktop.. and have experimented turning both off and on.

wonder if it will still be working tomorrow after ive turned my pc off... lol

would appear Windows wanted different settings if TV off or on...

as now if TV is off windows says "extended desktop"

but if i turn TV on.. monitor flashes black and settings change to "cloned desktop"

maybe it had settings for both on.. but when it was just going to the amp it thought it needed different settingS??? lol
