Hello,

I have 3 Win7 computers and one of them is having trouble sharing with the others.

A is a pc which is having the issues

B and C are two laptops that can share between themselves and also upload to A

While on A, in the explorer, I can choose network and it will show both B and C with each of their shared drives. When selecting any of those drives I am prompted for a username and password. none of the computers have passwords for their user accounts and in the sharing options on all three the requirement for passwords is turned off.

What am I missing? it used to work with all three pcs before and I can't think of any change that would have made this problem occur.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

You might want to check the time/date settings on those machines, if they aren't totally in sync it will cause the problems you are describing with the password prompts and all.

Which ever anti virus software you have installed is also a candidate for causing this type of problem.

I've heard that one before. All are set to the same time zone, same time, and same time server. They are all using ms security essentials.

Thanks for the advice though. I've seen this issue fixed by your suggestion and I hope it will help anyone searching for a solution to this problem.

The time/date problem isn't the only potential problem.

Which anti virus are you using then?

Thanks for helping me out Chev. The shares are setup properly but it seemed like the homegroup settings were corrupted on Box A. I recreated the homegroup like you suggested and everything works now. I knew that might be the fix but I was hoping for something quicker.

Thanks again!
