I had to release 239 for 32bit and 243 for x64 becaue of the following quote from my WIKI

Concerning S/PDIF, digital, optical and HDMI: The administrator and a regular user are different users and each must setup the Audio TAB for FFDshow pass-through. At no time should anyone have a need to click the leftside of the Audio TAB manually; it uses system detection.
It is impossible to write settings to the registry of the users account while in administrative mode so I made the application detect administrative changes and subsequently openning the application as a user without admin rights will automatically transfer the administrative options to the users account as applicable.

The above is also activated for the Restore feature because it also can only run in administrative mode. So after performing a Restore, choosing to open the application without admin rights will automatically transfer all of the adminstative options to the logged in user. This refers to options the user could not have set on their own anyway.

Anytime you make an adjustment in the settings application using Administrative privileges it is REQUIRED that you re-open the application as a user afterwards to have the settings transfered to the user account. Whenever you open a player, it is almost always done as a user!

So, when I've been opening the settings applications using the "Run As Administrator" and making changes, they weren't actually being applied to my current account and activities as the user I was logged in as? Therefore, any changes I made, would not have made any affect on the videos I was viewing as a regular user?

Therefore, any changes I made, would not have made any affect on the videos I was viewing as a regular user?

This information mostly applied to video's that were using FFDshow for decoding. Most changes in the application occur at the 'system level' so things worked as expected, but changes that were sent to the users registry (such as choosing TV output over Monitor on the Config TAB) were not being applied to the users registry.

In the current releases, I have implemented a way to read the administrative changes by the logged on user account and write those changes to the users registry when required, but the user must open the application as a user after making administrative changes.

So, just to play it safe, always close the program after running/making changes as Admin, and re-open as User?

Thats the facts. Anytime making an administrative change, re-open the app as a user.
No change needs to be made as a user, just open it, close it. I've even tried to automate this action, but executing the app from an admin position, re-opens it as an admin once again.

If I could write to the user registry from the admin invoked application I would, but that is just not possible so to get the proper entries into the users registry, re-open it without admin rights, it will write the nessasary entries quicker than you can wink.

I just installed the latest version, ran as admin, applied suggested settings, changed my audio to 2.1 surround sound, closed, re-opened as regular user and the audio was back to 2.0 instead of 2.1 surround. I thought opening as regular user applied all the settings I just did?

That setting is automated using system detection.
The fact that it is displaying wrong indicates that you have your system setup wrong.

Go to Control Panel | Sound; setup you speakers properly there.
to do so, click speakers, and then on bottom left, click configure.
My software detects that setting and uses it in my interface.

AT NO TIME SHOULD YOU MANUALLY CLICK THE LEFT SIDE OF THE AUDIO TAB.
Any leftside click disables the system detection and automation of the setup.

At the top left of the audio tab, uncheck the box that is disabling the detection.

Users of digital audio output to a receiver, please READ THIS

i reformatted my computer, downloaded the latest version of the codec packs and used shark's recommended settings (with some minor adjustments). I can't remember the settings that allowed me to view HARDsubs from anime that i downloaded.
I usually view these mkv format anime in WMP Classic, what do i do? I somehow have a feeling i might have to adjust a setting in WMP but i'm not sure what. Any advice? thanks

I have a question.

I was having issues with MP4 or MKV files that had AAC 5.1 Audio if setting it to use FFDshow audio decoder.
WMP would crash with a RAAC.dll error. I assumed this was due to changes in FFDshow.
Microsoft or monogram Audio decoder would work however.

Now it happens even with 2.0 stereo AAC as well :-/ but now only the MS audio decoder will work.

I have the MS Video decoder disabled, and Video codecs set to FFdshow, which are fine just the audio issue with AAC if using anything but MS.

but what i found, is if i disable Haali globally, it uses Gabest filters and everything works beautifully. MP4 & MKVs with AAC, AC3 whatever, using all FFDshow.

Is there some issue with Haali? or am I overlooking something. thanks

shark, after a recent AVG scan it showed trojan horse in the codec files. i deleted the infected files but was unable to delete the entire program because these files were missing. i did finally get all uninstalled....and proceeded to reinstall from the d/l site in first post. previous install attempts were unsuccessful because i didn't uninstall properly....anyway i reinstalleded the codec then uninstalled properly using the uninstall option. i then did ANOTHER install and ran AVG again...the same files were infected....so i uninstalled then ran AVG and had no infected files on my puter. what now? i currently have no codec installed...

files are in next post...sry
