Solved Win7Pro64 Is it too late to consider partition plan?

I recieved my computer with an OEM version of Win7Pro64 already installed. Startup went smoothly except that I am trying to follow the setup tutorials but can't find one that fits my situation. They talk about partition plans which I only partially (no pun intended) understand. Is it too late to reconfigure anything now that it's running? If not, can you point me in the right direction to learn more about partitions please? And if it is too late, what should be my next step? I'm not sure if I could do a clean install and start over without any disc but I am willing to do that if its possible and the best choice since I'm not too far into this with personal files.

I have installed some security measures (Microsoft Security Essentials, Malwarebytes, and Spywareblaster) and a few other programs but I have not begun to transfer any files from my old PC (running XP).

You shouldn`t have to be playing around with partitions.

Nothing much you can do with that small of a drive, I`d leave it alone. Maybe free up some space on C.

That Recovery Partition contains the files used by the factory restore program to put the computer back to its as-shipped condition, as it was when you first got it. Unless you have followed the suggestion to create the DVDs for that purpose it is, as suggested, best to leave it alone.

If it were my computer I'd add a second HDD/Hard Disk Drive to use for storage of files and installing larger programs on, not mess with the drive that is now working.

AddRam, thank you, what would you suggest to do to free up the space on C? I have only barely begun using the computer and installed just a few programs I know we will use and security too. I will continue to work through tutorials as I know you have probably answered such questions over and over again! I appreciate your help so much.

Berton, I have not yet created the DVD's but I wanted to do that, although I am inclined to leave it alone anyway. I like your suggestion to add a second drive so I will head on over to those tutorials before I ask more questions.

You're welcome. Go ahead and make the discs even though you don't delete that partition, might come in handy some day. Watch the prompts, may be given a choice of a USB Thumb/Flash drive, probably need 8GB.

I have no idea what`s on your pc, but it`s down to 23% free space already on the C partition

Type DIsk Cleanup in Start button Search box. Run it.

Is there a windows.old folder in C? If so the entire previous installation was stuffed in there because the installation media was run from Windows and not booted to correctly Clean Reinstall Windows 7. Otherwise Windows 7 should not take much more than 20gb.

To delete Windows.old select Clean Up System Files on Disk Cleanup results.

It would probably be best to add some storage, like an external drive or another internal HD.

I hope you didn't pay more than $100 for it.
You desperately need to create a system image and a system repair disk, then buy a decent size drive and clone it. I can't imagine being able to do anything with an 80GB drive...

I`d get a 120 to 250 GB ssd for it, clean install wiondows 64 bit and max out the memory.
