Window 7 boot up problem

I just tried to install an old IDE hard drive (via a SATA converter card ) as a slave and managed to screw up windows 7 boot-up. The system initially booted up fine but didn't see the new drive. After checking to see if all the ports were enabled in the bias I tried again. The system then didn't see any hard drives. I pulled out the IDE and re-started. The system now will see the boot hard drive but will not boot in either safe or normal modes. Does anybody have a clue to what is going on?

Check that the Win7 HD is set to boot first in BIOS setup, after DVD drive.

Make sure Win7 or it's 100mb System Rserved boot partition are marked Active, then run http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105541-startup-repair-run-3-separate-times.html

Make sure no BIOS settings including SATA controller were changed. If repairs still don't work, try resetting the CMOS: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/tp/clearcmos.htm

Found Hard Drive Problem

I found my problem. At least the boot problem. The SATA in the BIOS was emulating IDE instead of AHCI. I changed it back and now my system is booting. I still could not get the BIOS to see my IDE slave drive.

Probably with the SATA to IDE converter card, the jumper on the IDE HD needs to be set to Master, not slave, not cable select.
