Window settings never stay where i set them

W7 pro 64 bit. When i set a folder to say for example sort by type, it does that but once i close it next time i go back it's not longer set to that detail. I have even gone to folder options and did the "make all folders open like this one". (paraphrasing) This is the same bug thats been in every version of windows and is still here in 7. Is there a way to fix this bug without having to install some 3rd party app?

Well that little bug you have, I don't have on my two Windows 7 computers. This might help and can't hurt. Start/run/comd prompt/admin and type in sfc /scannow a couple three times with reboot after each. That is Windows 7 System File Checker. It can repair many little problems in Windows System Files. Do you use any other programs that you open files with?

Well, it's done this since i installed 7, and every version of windows i've owned has been the same. So that pretty much eliminates a damaged file or something thats running.
