It wouldn't surprise me if Microsoft extended the time for the free upgrade to W-10 just to try to keep their numbers up.
They don't want W-10 falling in the same hole as Windows 8 did.
Board members would have to start looking for the rip cord on their golden parachute.

W10 is already close to beating the W8 Series peak market share.

The next target after that will be Vista (I'm guessing that will be around the end of this year).

I suspect it will take a long time to reach the peak market share of W7 and then XP.

For now I am using Win7 and Linux Mint and for the past 3 weeks experimenting with OpenOffice.
What fun without watching my back and silent downloads and silent outgoings.
And of course Win-10'ers will be paying for the silent traffic whether they want to or not ... but not me.
Come to think of it I would have to pay MS for Win-10 and then pay for silent traffic between my PC and MS.
How about MS pay me for any info they benefit from on my machines ? Fat chance! :sarc:

No thanks, I'll stay with Windows Seven until such time as I am able to do everything I need on Linux. Or even keep using it past 2020 but offline. Sorry, your "free" offer to become a cog in the wheel of the biggest data collection and monetizing effort in history is of no interest to me.

Yeah happy to stay with Win7 as it's generally been awesome, but with all the updates over the last few days (numerous daily) I think "data collection and monetizing effort" may have been added to 7 anyway
