Solved Windows 10 Upgrade Compatibility

Hi, I checked the upgrade compatibility on my sister's laptop for Windows 10. It said I needed to upgrade the Windows Live Display Driver or we would experience problems with the display.

Can someone point me to the right path to get the right display driver for her computer?

I don't want any arguing about this, like what went on in the other thread.

It's an Acer 5749 Series laptop. It has an Intel processor.

It's all good
The best way to find drivers is with the snid # on the machine and go to the Acer website
Where that number is varies on laptops but is usually a white tag near the activation key sticker
It will also have the serial # too

Thrash zone, the only one there is dated from 2011. It's the VGA driver, I am assuming.

To tell the truth I've never heard of a Windows Live Display Driver
Display points to the chip set and or if the laptop has a graphic's card installed in it,

You might need to run the forums system spec's utility on the machine and have it upload to your profile temporarily so we might see what it lists :/
Or have her make a account here and have it available separately from your machine ?

When the GWX icon went active several days ago there were a few items related to graphics drivers that were tagged that might cause problems, but it eventually went away once MS autonomously scanned the machine.

I noticed that today on three of the machines which earlier stated that issues would surface and need to be rectified prior to a W10 upgrade.

I would check the GWX interface box periodically to see it comes up clean for the upgrade.

Well, you were right. I closed out of the GWX app, reopened it, and it had no issues with that driver, except for 1.

What's interesting about this so-called compatibility scan is that it didn't flag my internet security software which, at the moment, doesn't have a beta version that is W10 compatible according to a few Preview users.

Or windows essentials related
That's the item that would produce a windows live display driver as far as I can tell,

Okay. Thanks, Thrashzone. When I turn it on tomorrow, I will keep that in mind. She doesn't use it often. We all have smartphones. We use them the most often. We use the computers to check our banking accounts, or to pull up things that the phones don't do a good job at doing. All in all, you get what I am saying, don't you?

Yes I do I use my laptop the same way it is my banking/ credit card.. machine
Everything else is on my desktop
Cell phone is just for text/ calls.
