Windows 10 worse than windows 8

Slow ring for me then if it breaks VMs. I'm not too bothered about Spartan anyway so it's no hassle. Hopefully this time updating through Updates won't break all currently mapped network drives either.

But it runs OK on virtual machines in build 10041. Been up all night doing several test installs, had an ISO for clean installs created about an hour later than the ESD upgrade 10049 was released, testing various Sysprep customization scenarios.

it's horrible to look at - so full of toys, gizmo's and gadgets..
a bewildering array of (mostly) unnecessary tricks

ok if you want to use your PC as though it were a mobile phone (or via a tablet..)
with all those tiles and apps galore (a future money-spinner, no doubt..) - and the dreaded cloud..
most Windows 8/8.1 users I've spoken to never use them and find ways to avoid them..
- why they should think that Windows 10 will be any different beats me..

if they could stick the engine into a decent desktop design, then they'd be on a sure-fire winner
at the moment it just appears to be a vehicle for Microsoft's vision of a future where you can
connect your kettle to the internet to find out if it's boiled the water for a cup of coffee yet..

- Windows 7 really is the king of desktops as far as MS goes..

The only thing I so called Hate is being classified as a hater when all I ask is "should be simple" options to remove unwanted "windows apps"
If these are truly windows apps they should be at the least listed in windows features On or Off
If they aren't then yes I hate that

Can you even think of the mess is going to be created when a billion people try this download method that us Previews are doing now for a W-10 Upgrade from 1041 to 1049.Then throw in a billion counterfeiters of W-7 in the mix.

Seriously folks I do worry about the method Microsoft is going to use to distribute W-10 free and or paid for.
I have been downloading for almost a hour and I'm at 32%. Just going from 10041 to 10049.

My last upgrade was like 4 am and it wasn't any quicker.

Think on the big picture. The Globe. Many places in the world have caps on such things as download and band with per month. One upgrade would shut them down for the month because they have toped out their allocation for the month. Most people in the world do not have a internet speed like a fighter jet or the bandwidth of a 6 lane highway.

Can you think of just the counterfeit copies of Windows 7 in China hitting the internet to upgrade to Windows 10 non genuine. What a mess.

Could you please enlighten me and tell what in this PC running Windows 10 is "as though it was a mobile phone"?

I am quite clearly using a very powerfull desktop operating system, the screenshot above shows how I am multitasking at the moment. Installing the latest build on a virtual machine, chatting in Skype, browsing the forums while Netflix streams on the secondary display. You really think this could be done on a phone?

"The dreaded cloud"! I am repeating myself here but once again, the only cloud in Windows 10 is the OneDrive synchronization and it only if the user especially allows it. By default it is not on. Funny how quite a many user with Google Drive or DropBox integrated in their Windows 7 think it is something else than having OneDrive in Windows 8 and later.

I think I understand OneDrive. At least enough to know at this time in my life I don't want it and Microsoft isn't going to make me use it. To me that is a good thing. I can choose to use OneDrive or not use OneDrive.

I don't use anything like Google Drive or Drop Box either.

If I ever choose to use such a program it will be from Microsoft OneDrive because I believe their work on Cloud security and looking to make it better security by the minute is very important. Clouds and syncing is only as good as it's security.

I think I understand the thought. The MS idea of having one OS for all environments makes it less optimal for any environment than if there were dedicated operating systems. An OS specialized for desktops and OS specialized for phones would be a better solution. That does not mean that they could not communicate. But I guess that has at least 2 drawbacks - for one, it would be much more costly for MS and then the users that have different devices need to learn the different operating systems. But for the person that has only a desktop or only a phone, that would have advantages.

My main devices right now are Windows 7 desktops, W8Phone and Android tablet. They are all different and adapted to the device. I have no difficulties using them. And I do mostly completely different things with each device. Nobody is going to tell me that they will make a PowerPoint presentation on a phone.

Methinks the BugMeister is referring to "The Internet of Things" which is a fancy schmancy term for Wi-Fi connected appliances that communicate with each other and you, via computers, tablets, smart phones, etc. It's an infant technology that has been having some serious growing pains, mostly security issues. M$ appears to be wanting to buy into that technology by designing Win 10 to integrate more smoothly with Wi-Fi connected appliances.

I have Dropbox installed, however it is disabled until I need to transfer an individual file to someone.
Once they have the file I disable it again.

I don't store anything in it as such.

The main concept of having one OS for all platforms is to be able to unite alll of your devices through one account. Besides the bloat pushing the returned Start menu sideways with the Metro tiles the desktop still performs much like 7. Note this is still the 10041 build as that is the latest seen for download through the Insider Program site in ISO format.

As seen on the download links page. Previous while still seeing 10041 for the 32bit the 64bit had been 9926 by number. Meanwhile since the ISP had to come in to correct something I decided to put on a fresh VM with the 32bit flavor again since the network icon shows green as well as the sound suggesting the previous was an incomplete. That happens at times.
