Windows 10 worse than windows 8

From what I have seen of Windows 10 and what I see on their forum, it's a NONO
for me. I am well aware that WINDOWS 10 is still in beta. But I see no true change
that's going to happen.
Seems that nothing in Microsoft's philosophy in regards to OSes has changed.
Seems that the only people that profit from this farce are using computers for
toys and entertainment. One wonders what the business people are doing?
I hope that this forum will continue to exist for the rest of us poor slobs!!!

Just as going from Windows 3.x to Windows 95 was different and also with most succeeding versions, Win10 will be different from Win8/8.1 just as Win8.1 is somewhat different from Win8.0. I notice Win10 Pro TP is a bit faster in some things than Win8.1 considering my Win10 is on a 2.20GHz computer with 4GB RAM and my Win8.1 is on a 2.80GHz computer with 6GB RAM.

Some people like 10 but give very few examples of what exactly they like about it :/

All I see is a very internet hungry os,
Everything relies heavily on a high speed connection,
Bing search is welded into the search
Cortana is another feature which is fed to you with internet connection and the list goes on and on.......

So personally I'm not impressed at all and very disappointed in "awesome"
So yea 10 isn't worth a win-7 copy at all,
8.1 bites so bad it 10 will replace it's existence for me,
Catch is 8.1 has been sitting collecting dust since I downloaded it which is what 10 will be doing while I use the greatest os ever released which is of course 7

Instead of wasting time with 10 I will most likely use Linux 17.1 more

Mike is right. 10 is trying to move us even more towards the 'cloud'. I don't like that. I can get along with 8.1 with OneDrive shut off but in 10 you stumble on the on-line connections all the time.

I would not draw any conclusions yet regarding performance. The 7 Beta was also faster than the final product. My guess would be that 10 will be slower than 7 because of all the syncing they have to do with the cloud. And that will be a problem for people with slow internet connections.

I installed Windows 10 October 1st and haven't been back to Windows 7 since, even though I support WIndows 7 6-8 hours per day on this Windows 10 PC.

I think it's faster, I like the Live Tiles on the side of a real Start menu updating the Weather, News, Calendar and my four mailboxes at a glance. Just the ability to have these over on one side of a real Start menu has changed me from hating apps to using five of them. Gone is the "Wall of Buttons" that slams down on your work in Windows 8 like a guillotine.

I like Windows Mail a lot, getting all of my four web mailboxes easily popped into one full page tabbed mailbox with no ads and a huge reading pane.

I like built-in OneDrive where I root my User folders so that they are simultaneously synced to my other devices and backed up to the Cloud.

I am fascinated by the progression to meld Windows 7 style desktop excellence with Windows 8's Ipad-like touch optimization. At first I was concerned about the 7 Control Panel being subsumed by 8's appcentric PC Settings, but these are working out to be sufficient replacements.

There is some rare beta-buggyness that others might not tolerate but gives me a chance to practice fixes: yesterday nothing but the desktop would open, so I booted into install media to do a Refresh which took about 10 minutes and set everything right again. I had to reinstall some programs, get rid of the unnecessary Lock Screen using gpedit, send feedback to get rid of the unnecessary Lock Screen. But I need things to go wrong so I can practice fixing them.

I was one of the biggest critics of Windows 8, invited into a Focus Group at Global MVP Summit to tell MS execs where they went wrong and have seen our belated criticisms taken to heart in the way Windows 10 is being built interactively. But I believe from all I am seeing and personally experiencing in this heavy work-station environment - far from social media - that this will be a worthy successor to Windows 7, the finest OS ever.

This is perfectly said, and I agree 100%! I think Windows 10 will be great! I love it so far! I am a huge huge supporter of Windows 8/8.1, and haven't used windows 7 since 8 came out, will never go back to Windows 7 on my personal machines. Although I do appreciate what it was, it's time to move forward, and IMO 8/8.1 was a big step forward outside of the tile screen(but once you install Start8 it was never seen again). I love Windows 10 so far, whether I will when it officially releases, we'll see, but I'm excited for the future.

Unfortunately that is too true. Seems many folks like to look for and talk about the worst in material things and even in people instead of what is good, the newspapers and TV news are prime examples.

Bias comes from allot of third parties in news.... not quite the same as user preferences testing an os :/

Allot of people liked and used messengers in all prior versions of windows except 8 but I never cared for a messenger because of the resources they soak up in the constant process,

I toggle mine to the start page which I like better - especially the Apps page

I don't use windows Mail - I use AOL since day 1 and never lost a mail (unlike other people).

I disabled OneDrive. Who needs it and what is it good for. We have 7 PCs, 2 tablets and 1 W8Phone. They are all different and I do not want the same stuff on all of them.

So far, I really haven't seen anything in Win 10 that I like that I can't easily achieve as well or better in Win 7 with or without added programs. Add to that I find the appearance of Win 7 both more aesthetically pleasing and easier to read than the cartoonish appearance carried over from Wi 8.x to Win 10. There are a few things I do not like, such as the difficulty of registering the installation and the push toward the cloud (no big surprise for the latter considering the position the new CEO used to hold). The threat of continuous forced upgrades that were introduced in Win 8.x also worries me. Many of these issues may be alleviated by RTM (or shortly afterwards) so I'm taking a wait and see attitude.

Before 9926 my only gripe was Bing desktop search default searching the net,
Then Microsoft made a joke of the entire start menu
So I'm not at all sure where Microsoft is getting it's feed back from

Having a 2 mile long all apps list was just freaking idiotic lol

Sample the apps over time to pin the ones you want, uninstall the ones you don't. The OS can remember these settings so you need only do it once. This is a benefit of using your MS Account across all devices to sync files, mail, customizations.

I feel like a fool now for struggling weeks to avoid using MS Account for sign-in. Some things make life easier. Only if MS were known to spy like Google would this be inadvisable. But I've never seen any evidence of this and except for pushing Bing (which can be deselected then forbidden from Browser Search, and ignored in Start Search) they tend to protect the consumer more than one would expect from a huge corporation. But if that were to change you would read about it here.

To have an M$ account, you have to have ALL cookies enabled. That will NOT happen on my computers. I will determine which cookies get put on my computers.

It's only when I remove Google cookies, uninstall their apps and stay signed out if their sites including YouTube that I stop being stalked by interest ads based on my searches. MS like Firefox even blocks them from spying from IE Search box.

As long as I'm not being stalked with ads that blatantly invade my privacy I don't care if in the worst case they buld a consumer profile that I only see working in my interest. This is not to say they are even doing this. But it interests me enough to find out. Anyone track what they're tracking?

Well for one Bing has no place in a start menu or taskbar search/ cortana,
The suggestions are unwanted and a total turn off ignoring them is not an option they should not be there in the first place nor should bing image of the day or popular now.
If that does not change it is a deal breaker.
To serve uncontrollable suggestions/ content will soon follow serving adds.
I personally wouldn't use a Microsoft account to sign into a computer if you paid me.
