I've got a problem with my hard drive. A diagnostic scan reveals that there are problems with it. What the problem is I can't tell you because the report it gives me is so full of computerize jargon that it is incomprehensible to any but computer engineers. I can swap it out without any problem except that a new hard drive will come preloaded with Windows 10. The last thing I need is something that is designed for smart phone users. (An instrument that I don't have, and never will.) I understand that you can set it up to run like Windows 7 except that you don't get any instructions on how to do this. Computer gurus may like all the little icons, but I work in the English language. My brother was given a two week old machine from a chap who couldn't get it to work. After a couple weeks of utter frustration, he eventually beat the machine into little pieces with a hammer. I would probably do the same, only I would do it at the retail outlet where I purchased it. If anyone out there can give me instructions on how to get a Windows 10 O/S to function like a Windows 7 system, please forward it to me before I have to swap out the HD. It would be very much appreciated.

I've never heard of anything that will "get a Window 10 O/S to function like a Windows 7 system."

If you don't like 10, buy 7---after you confirm that your hard drive does or does not need to be replaced.

Why do you think that a new hard drive will be pre-loaded with Windows 10? Retailers are full of hard drives that are full of nothing at all.

New HDD comes empty, blank, nothing on it.
If you do have a Win 7 key you can do a fresh Win 7 install on the existing drive or on a new one.
Please edit your profile with your hardware specs.
