Windows 7 200Mb partition

Hi All

I tried installing Ubuntu with Windows 7 and crashed my boot process. I think I may have over written on the 200 MB boot partition.

Whichever recovery method I try, it does not show me any partitions of the disk.

How do I recreate that 200MB partition on to my HD? I need to replace what I deleted in order to boot into Windows 7.

Do you mean the 100 MB reserve drive that is put in front of the Windows 7 Partition?

Have you tried booting recovery from your windows 7 cd?

Thanks for the reply.

But, none of the recovery options are working for me. It does not recognize any disk or drive. Asks me for a drive for the HD.

DISKPART list volume has no partitions. I tried using the Windows 7 installing disk, again asks to install a driver. I can't even install a fresh copy of windows/!

I may have corrupted the 200Mb partition trying to install linux.

Partition Wizard (free) boot disc might be able to see the HD .

It has a partition recovery function.

Partition Wizard Bootable CD allows user to boot computer directly to manage partition.

If Partition Wizard does not help and you have to reinstall, it would be best to do a wipe of the entire Hard Disk Drive to make sure you completely remove all the corrupted Linux code; have a look through the information below and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.


After you have copied out or made back-ups of the data you need to save to external media, use Step One of this tutorial at the first link below to do a wipe (secure erase) to the entire Hard Disk Drive / Solid State Drive.

• Then if you do not want to create the new Windows 7 "System Reserved" partition use the outline in Step Two #2 to create, format and mark Active a single 100GB partition to do the installation to.
• If you do want to create the "System Reserved" partition use the outline in Step Two #3 to create, format and mark Active the System Reserved partition and then create and format the 100GB partition to do the installation to.

Either way, running the "clean all" then creating and formatting the partition(s) using diskpart will get you the best possible space to do a clean install of Windows 7 to; you can always extend the Windows partition to include the remaining unallocated space on the HDD / SSD or create additional Primary partitions or an Extended partition after the installation completes if you choose.
