Still can't get my Windows 7 32bit system to operate w/ Nikon Coolscan 4000 ed.
I tried advice from other postings by downloading/installing Vista 32 bit driver plus a scanner.info file. I first downloaded to a flash drive and then tried installing them using the wizard. Both are on my desktop, but not in a file. I do get a nikon scan window to show, but only prefs, tools, and help respond to clicks.Clicked on batch scan for SF 200; nothing happens . FYI, Nikon 4000 is firewire. Please help.

You may have more luck with a scanner application called "VueScan" which uses it's own drivers and requires no drivers or other vendor software. It also runs fine on Windows 7. There's a trial version for you to test that it works with your scanner, and it's user interface is far more sophisticated than that of many vendor drivers.

It worked for me when I upgraded to Windows 7 & discovered that Epson had no compatible driver for my scanner.

It's not free if you want to continue using it but if it gets you out of your current problem it's worth paying for.
Get it here: VueScan 9 Scanning Software for Windows 7, Mac OS X (Snow Leopard) and Linux
