Windows 7-32bit Pro Service pack 1 not installing..

I know much has been written and discussed regarding this topic but I'm pretty sure that I've tried most if not all of the recommended solutions and still can't get SP1 to install on my Dell Latitude E6400 laptop. Here's a little background.
This computer is joined to a domain network both most if not all the attempts have been done using a local Admin account and ran with elevated privileges to possibly rule out permission issues.

Each time the SP1 installed appears to go all the way through without issue and reboots, says configuring updates step ...then goes to reverting updates and upon logon says something like "update was uncesssful" and click details for more and shows some two word reason code like "Internal error 0x....".
I will get a screenshot of exact message if needed but I research it along with event log message and no good clues.

1. Uninstall All security software
2. ran and cleaned any malware, PUPS (was infected before but should be very clean now)
3. ran sfc /scannow
4. multiple runs of SURT (CBS folder compressed and attached)
5. Windows update replacement package..packs.zip file (http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-...-windows-7-service-pack-1-not-installing.html)

UPDATE: The failed error message is Internal Error Error 0x8007054f

first; one thing you could try is doing a system restore to a point back to where you know that windows update was working for ya; i would try this first since this is a relatively simple thing to do. Click start, programs, accessories, system tools, then system restore and find a restore point back to where you know it was working the way its suppose to and see what happens. Post back if it doesnt and we can take it from there.

Thanks for the reply but Windows SP1 has never been installed on this computer. One more thing that might be complicating this is this computer recently was configured to use WSUS for updates. I disabled group policies on the server and connecting to domain so laptop would now get updates. This appeared to work as the computer was able to download lots of update up to SP1 which continues to fail.

Also I finally watched the install/update of SP1 to see exactly where it is failing and it gets through the initial install, reboots and says "configuing updates" this gets to 99% and then says "failure configuring Service Pack..reverting changes.." The restarts and I log on and this is when I get service pack was unsuccessful.

Well; you may have to go into file explorer and delete the "windows update catalogs" and try and re-download it and see if it will install that way. I am on my way out the door until later but I will try and look up how to delete these catalogs when i return and post back if no one else already has.

Since you are connected to a Domain, it's likely that your System Admin has restricted your capabilities on this machine - and we have a limited chance of fixing it.

Do you have Full Local Admin rights to the machine, or not?

This machine appears to still be running RTM Windows 7 - the failures in the log are for the install of SP1

Support for RTM (as far as MS is concerned) ceased back in 2012 - and SP1 should have been installed back them.

If you don't have full admin access, there really is nothing we can do for you here, and you need to get your system admin to assist.

I mentioned in my original post that ALL these attempts have been done with a local admin account not domain account which would mean full and complete access. Thanks
